New Living Health’s Green Painter Program is a full day course designed to teach painters and contractors working in the Houston area about the chemicals in paints, how to create safe working conditions for painters and clients, how to use green paint methods, and how to green their business.

This course was designed with two goals in mind: to create a healthy working environment for painters and to create a workforce of painters around the city with a low impact on the environment. Our course certifies that painters are making healthy decisions for themselves and for their clients. Currently, because of the toxic chemicals in paints that painters are exposed to on a daily basis the paint profession is the only one listed by the International Agency for Resarch on Cancer (IARC) as having an occupational risk for cancer. Our hope is that by teaching and certifying painters on healthy paints and practices, we can ensure that that this is no longer the case.

Additionally, it also ensures that painters are using the greenest products and practices for their total business – helping them to save clients money as well as the environment in the process. This means that painters will use products with low or no-VOCs, that all paint supplies they use will be naturally made, and that they will reduce waste by choosing the right amount of paint (rather than overbuying) and clean all of their materials with as minimal impact to the environment and our resources as possible.
